Was Kermit right? Is it easy to be green? Find out at the SLA Princeton-Trenton Chapter's meeting on "Green Libraries" on Tuesday May 24th, 2011 with great food, great networking, and a great program.

7:00 Program, featuring architect Dennis J. Kowal, AIA and Linda Espenshade Heinemann, Library Director, the George School
Dennis J. Kowal AIA will talk about “green” library and building design. He teaches Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) to architects, engineers, and professionals. His firm is located in Somerville, New Jersey, and has designed many environmentally friendly buildings, including libraries. He has been a leader in sustainable design since 1980.
Linda Espenshade Heinemann, Library Director, the GeorgeSchool, Newtown, Pennsylvania will give a talk entitled “Place, People and Program: How a green building helped a library to blossom.” GeorgeSchool's Gold level LEED library and classroom building is in its 2nd year of use. Linda Espenshade Heinemann, Library Director, will describe the planning, building and use of the building from the perspective of the library staff and user. She will talk about the impact of the "green" features on the library program and will discuss surprises encountered along the way.
